OOB & TO&E

#1

Post by Jos1311 » Thu Aug 16, 2018 3:45 pm

In order to help you organize your military, and for us to be able to determine if your eventual use is possible, you will need an Order of Battle (OOB) and a Table of Organization and Equipment (TO&E). They can be as detailed as you like, but the examples below is a good hint. Please, consider doing the TO&E down to the level that you intend to use. If you deploy a Company, we will need to know what that company consists of.

In the game, the Order of Battle shows the overall organization of your Armed Forces. This can usually be found on various sites like Wikipedia, and gives an overall understanding on what you have, and where.

Example
- 1. Mechanized Brigade Group - City 1 - (Professional)
- 2. Mechanized Brigade Group - City 2 - (Reserve)

The TO&E describes the organization, staffing and equipment of units. The TOE is applicable to a type of unit (Infantry, Artillery etc.) rather than a specific unit (1st Infantry Brigade).

Example
Mechanized Brigade Group
- 1 x Headquarters & Signal Squadron
- 1 x Armoured Battalion
- 1 x Artillery Battalion
- 1 x Combat Engineer Regiment
- 3 x Mechanized infantry Battalion
- 1 x Service Regiment

NOTE the amounts of trucks in these units. They are logistics trucks, not there for troop transport. The two most common vehicles in ANY modern military unit is the light liaison/logistics vehicle, something akin to the Jeep/HMMWV/Geländerwagen, and the General Purpose Truck, which serves a multitude of purposes, but almost none as important as hauling fuel. Tanks and other armoured vehicles are extremely thirsty.

For those that want an old-school Soviet feel, this will give a very in-depth solution: https://fas.org/irp/doddir/army/fm100-2-3.pdf
Actually slightly more complicated, as there is a lot of counting to be done, but here is how the modern US Army does things: https://www.scribd.com/document/347566279/msm3-90-2012-pdf
